Investment Plan

Do I need an Investment Plan?

Sure, you're comfortable making your own investment decisions, but are you sure you're doing it right? I will review and analyze your current portfolio, then make suggestions on how to construct one with lower expenses, lower risk, or both! I will construct a well-diversified portfolio of low-cost mutual funds and ETFs, tailored to meet your specific needs.

Step 1: Get to know

We begin by defining your current situation and goals. I'll ask you many questions about your family, work, financial situation, and interests. You'll tell me what you hope to achieve with the help of your investment portfolio.

Step 2: Analyze and evaluate

Taking what I learned in Step 1, I'll analyze your current portfolio. I utilize Morningstar Advisor Workstation® to do so. I'll look to see if all the individual accounts add up to a well-diversified portfolio comprised of sound investments with reasonable expenses. I'll identify any risk you may be exposed to that you may not be aware of. I'll determine if your asset allocation (i.e. stocks/bonds/cash) matches the amount of risk that is right for you. I'll determine if the location of your investments takes full advantage of any tax benefits.

Step 3: Recommend

All my discoveries and recommendations will be clearly presented to you in your personalized plan. For each of your investment accounts I will give detailed, step-by-step instructions of what you must do to align your investment portfolio to your life goals. I will also make sure that you feel confident in your ability to implement my recommendations.

Step 4: Annual review and rebalance

Your life is not static. Markets go up and down. Because of this it's important to annually re-evaluate to make sure your investment portfolio is still aligned with your goals. I recommend you annually rebalance your portfolio because it forces you to "sell high and buy low" and is a very good tool for the maximization of long-term returns. Subsequent reviews tend to take less time than initial reviews, but are crucial to keeping your portfolio on track.
